Piece to Peace

So, do you sort by edges or color?
In the strategy of the 1,000 pieces dumped on the table – careful to be sure that no pieces have fallen on the floor….
Do you sort for the edges of the puzzle or by the colors into groups that might gather form? What about the inner chaos?
How do you sort?
By what fits on the “To Do” List?
By what happened to you?
By what you meant to do but didn’t get to?
By what isn’t your fault?
By what is your responsibility?
By scores from the past that are important to keep recorded?

Those things I try to build walls around and keep contained seem to morph together.

The amoeba of honesty grows and I find my neatly compartmentalized inner chaos categories impinging on one another so that one thing leads to the next as I jump upon the hamster wheel that circles within.

Here we are in the second week of Lent

When the puzzle pieces seem to be in a pile and it’s time to start sorting
Sometimes it’s easier to focus on the “to do” list than to focus on the “plank” in my own eye.

It seems to me that Lent is about making today matter
Attention and Intention. Present right here and now.
Choosing this day to not create new material for the hamster wheel

Loving rightly – choosing well – stretching beyond fair to generous
Making a difference in whatever comes my way in this day
Not looking for the end result, but the single piece

As Teddy Roosevelt said, “Do what you can, where you are, with what you have”
And from that place, something new can emerge…one piece at a time

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” Ps 51:10

See you at the puzzle table!
Bridget

ps…as many of you might guess, I tend not to sort – just dive in without a plan.
